Animal Welfare Science
We observe behavior at the level of the individual with the understanding that their subjective states, feelings, histories, and contexts shape who they are and how they behave.

Animal Behavior
Animals under study are affected by researchers’ methods and approach. The way we study animals shapes their behavior, and thus the data. When scientists incorporate
ethics, empathy, and dignity, new avenues of research emerge and new insights are possible.

Aquatic Animals
Aquatic animals serve as a lens and inspiration for much of the work that we do, fascinating us with the meaningful and complex lives they lead and revealing different ways of being in the world. They also face significant threats from various forms of human activity – overfishing, aquaculture, wildlife trade, ornamental fish trade, and more.
